Organizing is defined simply as "organizing the unorganized". It is an attempt by the union to raise the standards of everyone working in the industry. For the unorganized worker, joining the union means earning a fair living wage and receiving adequate benefits to provide health insurance for both the worker and his or her family. Equally important are the pension benefits. which will provide income and security for retirement. In addition, but no less important. when a worker joins the union, he or she has representation by the union concerning any issue that may arise between the worker and the employer. Joining the ranks of union labor insures any worker, equality, justice, and dignity in the pursuit of earning a living.
